The data on the speed ratings page is split into two sections. It shows the speed ratings of the horses and then the running score of the horse based on today's race. This is a measure of the whole run and not just a speed rating. The data is based on the last 3 runs, the best run over the last year, then the best run on the course, over the distance and on the going. See the table below for the descriptions: Heading | Description | Horse | Horses name | Sp3 | Speed rating of the 3rd run ago. | Sp2 | Speed rating of the 2nd run ago. | Sp1 | Speed rating of the last run. | last yr | The fastest speed rating over the last year. | Crs | The fastest speed rating on the course over the last 2 years. | Dis | The fastest speed rating at the distance over the last 2 years. | Going | The fastest speed rating on the going over the last 2 years. | Rat3 | Running score of the 3rd run ago. | rat2 | Running score of the 2nd run ago. | rat1 | Running score of the last run. | Last yr | Best running score over the last year based on today's race. | Crs type | Best running score on this type of course based on the last two years. | Dis | Best running score at this distance, over the last two years. | Going | Best running score on this type of ground based on the last two years. |
The speed ratings speak for themselves, the overall running score is based on todays run with todays race being rated at 100. If a horse last ran a score of 105%, then the effort to acheive that run was 5% stronger than he would need to win todays race.
